Prism

Prism

A Poem by Litheos Ennius Taruc
"

There are times when I ask myself: "Why do I even desire to help other people? It's already a burden to help myself." This poem is my answer.

"
I'm a crystal prism.
I'm see-through. Clear. Unnoticeable.
I'm nothing when I'm next to a sapphire,
Let alone to an emerald or ruby.
The diamond outshines me;
Its brilliance surpassing mine.
I may hold little value,
Unlike a turquoise or Lapiz.

My appearance may seem meek,
but I hold one thing dear:
Should sunshine pass through me,
I turn it into a rainbow.
True, I hold no color of my own,
But true colors are what I create.
And with that, I feel not disheartened.
