okay it's late..I've had a long day..how bad can it be ;)

For The Love Of Writing

The writing may be dodgy,

the idea's a tad mundane.

I'll give it my all anyway 

as I love it just the same.

The flow may not go like 

other writer's I know,

and it may not contain

any wisdom.

The intelligence and wit may

be lacking a bit as I struggle

with words, trying to fit them.

But it's what I've got, and will 

have to do, until one day I find

I write as nicely as you.

An important message to remember when intimidation halts your writing. I personally like that the stanzas have a bit of a jumbled rhyme scheme. It hits the point home in a meta sort of way that an individual's writing doesn't have to be like everyone else's or necessarily follow guidelines. And it certainly isn't a be-all-end-all that it be perfect. Writers write because they love to write, right? Thank you for posting this. It's easy to forget sometimes.

That's a sweet one but don't underestimate yourself, put yourself down so much. Writing is a process.
Technically, the stanza before the last one is really nicely written. Though the changing rhyme scheme throughout the whole poem seems a tad too halting, kind of humpy in a way. But you know how to use words to create something nice. Your writings are always entertaining, whether in a nice and fun or sad and heartfelt, thoughtful way.

You're welcome. :) But you're not the only one who thinks like this, I also feel very self-conscious when I read other great writings and think I'm not good (enough) and stuff like this but that's nonsense. Everyone has a different style which makes it almost incomparable to other writings and writers. People like to argue about and judge technique, how well one structures and links thoughts to words, originality etc. ...

oh yea..i have had a few of those..sometimes i agree and see that their way makes things much better but sometimes i think people just say stuff just to say it haha butoverall the help on this site is invaluable

Like this.When all is said and done, first and foremost we all write for ourselves,but it is gratifying to know,through reviews,that our work is both liked and appreciated by others.Hopefully too,we can learn and improve,either from just reading others work,and/or asking for their help.

I love the reflection on the journey. It speaks directly to that insecurity I felt last night, asking people to read my stuff for the first time in a decade. Plus it feels somehow very sweet or perhaps innocent.

yes, i think we all go through that insecurity every now and then, not sure what people really think etc. people on this site however are so friendly and helpful, so much to learn from them..and great fun along the way learning it...thank you so much for your lovely comments, much appreciated :)

I have been writing since 1971. I wrote for my Junior high paper. Writers are always learning and searching for knowledge and more reasons to write. I wanted the Hemingway life. Not his death.
