This year the snow came time after time. Each with a roar in it's bite. The freezing cold and winds with the hugh piles of snow, gave the kids just what this element deserves, fun. Kids out in it playing till they were exhusted and wringing wet head to toe. I had my grandson an his friend during one of those snow days, and the sight was awesome. Years I have played in the snow as they were that day, but I never got creative as they. Each piling bucket of snow, mound, on top of mound with out haste. Like two little miners on a mission. Both in sync with the other and no stopping either of them. Both sopping wet from a prior snowball battle like you've never seen. Only one could throw a snowball at the other until someone got hit. That lasted only minutes, before that got out of control and snow began to fly across the yard, like the heavens had begun to spring another snow storm on them. I couldn't help but laugh, it was obvious to me, someone was going to get it good shortly. But that's when the plans changed. It was those buckets of unrelenting mounds of snow, they kept piling up higher than either of them were in height. I kept watching just in case the devil made one of them, lets' say, disinterested in the final event, and I'd have to go out and be a referee, I wasn't really in to going outside, to cold for me, burr. So, I sat back, took a breath, and began to finish my coffee and continued to watch through the kitchen windows. I watched the meeting of big minds in small bodies take place, and as they came to their agreement, little hands went to work on this hugh pile of snow. I was sure it was going to be a snowman, but I never knew the creativity that would come to be as a final result. Snow began flying here and there, repacking, and many modifications until at last, a snowman. The two of them disappeared around the corner for a few minutes, and I figured they were looking for the usual twigs we used to use for arms and such to finish off our, "back in the day", snowman. In this case it took a clever mind, two clever minds in fact, because whipping around the corner of the porch they came holding collard leaves. First thought was oh, oh. Someone's going to be in loads of trouble here now. They've been in the garden. How will I be able to disarm this upcoming battle. Then I see his uncle coming up behind them with more collard leaves. That was good. Then I watched to see just what was going to happen next. Snowmen with collard arms? I must have laugh a bit to loud, because they started laughing too, saying, " look what we made". Uncle quite pleased to have a hand in this, as he put collard leaves on the heads of the snowmen as hats. Apparently, these are well dressed snowmen. It was so great to see these two collaborate this out in such a fancy way, I took a picture to keep. I guess I'll have to see what next years snowmen will be wearing.
