I Want (Ego’s lament)
I want the sun when rain falls,
I want the dry when I am wet.
I want the rain when the sun’s too hot
I want it to dampen and cool my skin
And I haven’t gotten that yet.
I want the warmth of summer
When, in winter chills, my body is bound
I want the cool of an artic breeze,
When the heat bears down on my face,
That comfort I haven’t found.
I want a moment of solitude,
When another’s hands hold tight,
I want a touch, hands to hold me,
When in my soul, lonely echoes pain.
Why not now, it doesn’t seem right.
Damn, why can’t I get what I want.
