Rapture

Rapture

A Poem by hoyt
"

This one I wrote for a "spoken word" presentation. The theme was Rapture..so there ya go!

"

                                            Rapture

Rapture , rapture,
my soul has been  captured
In a state of slumber, asleep while awake,

Sighing , crying ,
inside just dying
crying for something , take me and shake..

The world in a hurry
spinning just to scurry
ends like it begins, a promise departs.

Like a rocking chair moving
but never,..well…moving,..
it's only destination where it starts…

My heart needs jolted!,
feet to earth bolted
the weight of the world feels my shoulder,

Sight trapped in a chasm,
eyes?..darkness has them,
faint hope feeling old, just gets older…

But wait!,.. Why wither?
my thoughts start to slither,
a faint pulse in my brain,.then a breath.

Imagination in a coffin
been there too often,
starts to rise  from it's colorless death.

Blinking,.then a stare,
seeing colors, I'm aware!
my spirit waking, ..ascends the abyss.

Like a lovers touch in the night
the first ray of sunlight,
caressing my skin,....a warm gentle kiss.

Eyes now seeing!,
darkness sent fleeing,
ears hearing songs in the breeze,

Birds singing, trees swaying,
children laughing, passions raging,
my mind creating!

…despair is forced to its knees!

Yes!, my soul's been let out!
heart pounding with a shout!
life flowing swifter than the blood in my veins,

I am present!…going higher!,
in a chariot on fire!
sweet surrender!,..let light seize the reins!

Oh no longer captured!
my soul I have raptured!
vain thoughts vanquished, along with strife,

Because in the wonder of  being!,
the now I am seeing!,
Is that true joy.....and rapture,…..is Life!!!

Very enlightening... to break free from the pain of a broken heart to know there is still life after love... done with such great flow.
