Expendable

Expendable

A Poem by Lexi Nicole
"

Darling, we're just expendable.

"

Darling, we’re all expendable
Specks of dust upon the wind
Nameless we wander o’er the earth
Forgotten, or perhaps never known
Paid to be silent, our lips sealed tight
Nobody hears our cries in the night

We’ll do their bidding
Save them from tears
Quietly passing through the years
And though I hold your hand
When you reach out for mine
We are but glass statues
To their selfish eyes

Darling, we’re expendable
From the start to the end
Lay down our lives
Pour out our blood

And these lives that we lead
Prove too much to bear
So we lay down our love
Spell it in blood
And they run,
Terrified
Of the
men
we’ve
become

Nameless
And forgotten
Were we ever here?
Bodies of glass and bleeding
Hearts are what we’ve become

Darling, we’re just expendable

From first breath to last
Nobody knows us
We, the people of glass
And yet we die for them
And give up our lives
Darling, we’re just expendable
Until the end of time
