DiamondsA Poem by Lexi NicoleWhen you finally lost them all, I gathered all those diamonds and I held them in my palm.I
followed a trail of diamonds
All the way back to your room And I found you on the bed With your head in your hand Mumbling about broken promises You were in a sea of diamonds I thought you didn’t see me So I turned to walk away And leave you to your thoughts When you reached out for my hand And asked me not to leave So I sat down beside you Watching all those diamonds fall And when you finally lost them all I gathered all those diamonds And I held them in my palm You asked what I was doing And I said I didn’t know Then I handed you your diamonds And said, “Don’t be ashamed When these diamonds have to fall Because they hold a special beauty In the sorrow that they hold And each diamond you let go of Leaves behind an ounce of strength And soon you’re gonna see that So just don’t be ashamed.” © 2010 Lexi NicoleAuthor's Note
