The Waiting Game

The Waiting Game

A Poem by Lexi Nicole
"

Sad, awful rough drafts strewn over the floor.

"

A pen cannot release its ink
As fast as my mind thinks
So it all comes out in this unintelligible jumble

The words cannot flow on the page
As easily as in my brain
So it all comes out in this hastened mess

Structure and meter both fall out the door
Sad, awful rough drafts strewn over the floor

A muse is just an illusion I always wait to see
In late hours of the night, it cannot let me be
But in the day, it is just gone

This is a giant waiting game
That has consumed my life
And though sometimes this waiting game
Frustrates me, I’ll wait all day
For those words to come
And leak onto the paper
Because I love this waiting game
That every writer has to play

It iiiiis~ I loved it. You had a cute little flow, and I like the on/off rhyming scheme. Good work :3
