Broken Paths

Broken Paths

A Poem by Lexi Nicole
"

She falls like she's broken, he's not by her side.

"

She falls like she’s broken
                He’s not by her side
                                She has no strength
                It’s all in him
                           What’s a girl to do
When her white knight takes his fall?

She’s alone & cold, lying on the floor
And he’s up in the air, so far from here
He flew away with her heart
                                But he isn’t gone yet
Oh, what’s a ghost to do
When his love cannot see him?

She needs his hands to lift her
And she needs his arms to hold her
She needs his voice to whisper softly
           “Baby, it’s alright.”
She needs to hear his heartbeat
So hers can follow the rhythm

He needs her to be strong
Needs her to know she’s where she belongs
He needs her to raise her eyes to the night
And tell all her demons she’s ready to fight
This time, he knows, she must be the knight
There’s a fire burning in her

Strength she doesn’t know she has
                Swells in her chest
But the tears in her eyes
           Blind her from this quest
                           He calls from the clouds
But she can’t hear his voice

      He begs her to fight
                           But this isn’t his choice
           She still lies broken
                                Amongst the pieces
                Of the beautiful girl
She used to be

It’s hard to walk in shadows
When you can’t see the light
                                It’s easy to lose yourself
And all your will to fight
                           Her love lost his battle
She saw him leave her side

Now she’s just a broken doll
                           Not caring to survive
Her path has grown so very dark
Her tears blur all she sees
                Colors run together
Until everything’s just black

Without him, she’s just broken
A rag doll on the floor
What is there to live for
When her white knight is no more?
When you can’t hear him whisper
And you can’t feel his touch

You start to think he was never there
And that is just too much
           Though he continues desperate cries
The sound is lost in all her sobs
Her sorrows drown the world away
Where’s the new tomorrow?

I don't really know. Just a little something based on the idea of strength. Might do a continuation of it later. Comments and crit always appreciated :)
btw, WritersCafe really messed up the format of this. It's supposed to look like a path, but it failed. :(

This one is different...I like it. I mean, most poems about strength that start out the way yours did end up with the character that feels weak finding their strength, not staying in the dark. It's kind of almost refreshing, in a twisted way xD I really loved this one though, one of my favorites for sure.
