Glass
heart shattered on the floor
His love’s not breathing anymore Blackbird sings a dirge for her The flowers, they all wilt for her The sky’s a darkened hue for her Rain patters on the windowpane His world can never be the same Without her light in his dark day Her smile, kiss, her healing touch Gone so quickly, it’s too much Gleaming knives never looked so nice All lined up and waiting to fight Their heavy hilts weigh down his hand His tears fill rivers all over the land He hears her whispers in all the halls Echoing off the great stone walls King in his castle, too big for just one Queen lost forever, eternally gone The hawk flies in circles over the sun Mourning the loss of such a beautiful one Dots of blood line the marble floors Writes on his arms behind closed doors And he stepped on the shards of his broken glass heart Bleeding and broken and only the start He’s feeling the chill of the night again Another lonely night without a friend No one to keep him safe and warm His world is empty, glass heart on the floor. © 2010 Lexi NicoleAuthor's Note
