I’m not gonna turn
around
I’m not gonna let you down
I promised you everything
Yet you expect nothing
And walk around suspicious
Of all the things I do
You refuse to believe
That you care about me
Because you think there’s a reason
You shouldn’t.
I am Prometheus and
you are the rock
We’re stuck together, all the time
And it’d be a whole lot easier
If you acted more like a rock
Because rocks are sturdy and strong
And hold you up so you don’t fall down
Everything you refuse to do
Because you think there’s a reason
You shouldn’t.
I trust you
But you won’t trust me
And that’s all that I want you to do
I don’t think it’s much
A little bit of trust
It’s hard, I know
To trust someone like me
Because there’s a long of reasons
You shouldn’t
But make a pro/con list
And maybe you’ll see
Trusting me might be worth a try
And if it doesn’t work
Then it’s all my fault
But at least you tried.
I like how this isn't really a poem, more of like a onesided conversation. Like, I imagine this could happen between two people, say a guy and a girl, when maybe the guy trusts the girl and needs her to trust him. Like...Kind of like a narrative, almost, like how when you're with a person and you're thinking of things you wish you could tell them, and kind of need to, but can't? I thought it was excellent, and I love the transition from the second to last stanza.
This was good, i wouldn't say great, but it was definatly good. I think if you worked on making it flow a bit more and staying a bit more on one entral topic it would be great though! I really like the idea, i just think it needs a bit of polishing.
