Life is both an art and a science…

                We take many years
                To create who we are
                Mold ourselves out of
                Clay of emotions and
                And love and hate and
                Every single little thing
                In between. We sew
                Up old wounds and
                Hide all the scars
                With paints and pastels.
                We scribble little
                Poems inside of our
                Hearts and we sketch
                Rough drawings of
                The people we want
                To be.

                                And therein lies the art of life.

                But there’s logic and
                Facts that are true
                Of all of us. We breathe
                And our hearts all
                Beat like drums. And
                Our brains are those
                Of human beings and
                Hormones control all
                The emotions that
                We spill into the art.
                There are cold hard
                Facts no one can argue
                With, and everyone
                Knows it’s true.

                                And there we see the science.

The science, you see, it propels the art. The two are entwined tight within each of us. And sometimes one side shows more than others- That’s the differences between chemists and poets, painters and biologists. But just because one side comes out more doesn’t mean the other isn’t there. They work together. One may be hiding, but that’s only because the other one needs its strength to be pushed forward.
