Carousel of Dreams

Carousel of Dreams

A Poem by Lexi Nicole
"

Some dreams are that real.

"

Sleep falls over her, calming
The wind kisses her face
Softly, she exhales and soon…
Dreams float into her mind

She feels as if she’s falling
Far too fast, it seems
But there’s a light she sees
A flame in ice, fire in the darkness
And she reaches for it with hope
What’s that? Someone reaching out?

She holds her breath--
Who could it be? Who could it be?
Gentle fingers wrap around her wrist
A great strength tugs her towards the light
And love wraps her in his warm embrace

“Do you like to fly?” he asks
She says she doesn’t know how
He grins a small grin and takes her hand in his

“It’s time you tried.”
“I’m scared.”
“I’ll hold you.”
“What if I fall?”
“I won’t let you.”
“Can I trust you?”
“You tell me.”

His words echo in her head
Echo in her head…
“Ok. I trust you.”

Together, hand-in-hand
They soar above the clouds
The wind raking its fingers
Through their hair
The stars are at their fingertips
Their feet touch on the moon
They breathe the sweet air
And look towards the ground
Where she sees her sleeping body
Underneath the willow tree

He looks to her and winks.
She looks back down
To see herself
In a rose-red gown
With lilies as her bed

He laughs a soft laugh.
A rain of rose petals
Drifts around them
Making pictures as they
Land on a green canvas
Of grass.

A picture of her
Standing next to him.
Hand-in-hand. Hand-in-hand.

Rose petals have never been so beautiful…

“Beautiful,” she breathes
Staring in wonder
Wonder, wonder

She feels her hand slip out of his
And turns to him
Shocked to find
He isn’t there

And she’s falling again…
Back towards the ground
She feels herself connect
With the body she left
And she wakes with a start

The sun peeks over the horizon
Winking at her

She runs a hand through her hair
And there are rose petals there
And a lily at her feet
But could it really be?
Could it really be?

She looks into the sky
And sees that boy on a cloud
She smiles to herself
Some dreams are that real.

Wonderful imagry with this piece, love the flow and story....i will check out the music from your note...that aside this made me think of the movie 'what dreams may come'....which is a powerful movie in my oppinion, i cry almost through the entire film....your poem is much happier, but the imagry you've used brought me to put them in parrallel....with your's i smiled all the way through instead of crying...

Fabulous Job....

That was sweet, I liked the ending a lot ^_^ I thought it was going to be one of those ones where the girl never sees the guy she dreamed about again, so the ending is love. :D Nifty work ;)

after reading the authors note i understand where the name comes from, but while reading, i didnt see how the carousel was involved. then again, i have a hard time grasping these things. anyway, i love it. its very dream like, in many respects. i also like the ending line; it leaves you with a good feeling...
