Autophobia

Autophobia: Fear of oneself.

Run.

 

Feel the wind in your hair
Pound your feet on the ground
There’s no time to think
Just run.

 

Stop.

 

Look wildly around you
See that nobody’s there
Hold your hand to your heart
It’s beating through your chest.

 

Think.

 

Who was the last person to criticize you?
The last person to terrify you?
Drop to your knees
Lean over the water.

 

Look.

 

Stare at your reflection
Touch your face to see its true
The person you always run from
Is you.
