Headlights

Headlights

A Poem by Lexi Nicole
"

Headlights on the highway like a thousand pairs of eyes.

"

Headlights on the highway
Like a thousand pairs of eyes
Watching as I step
Into certain demise

Bare feet on the blacktop
Burned by the sun
Scars on the soles
You are not the one

I drop your picture to the ground
And find the stars in the sky
And make a silent wish
That you wonder why

But the cars only swerve around me
Frantic headlights turn away
And I drop to my knees
Can there be another way?

The collision rears its head
But when I open my eyes I’m in my bed
Sweat dripping down my cheeks
But when I look around at the white walls
I realize I haven’t slept in weeks.

I've had the first stanza swimming around in my head for days now and the rest of the poem basically wrote itself. Comments and crit appreciated :3

The last stanza is my fave and the coolest, I think. I love it when poetry writes itself, makes it so much easier to get it down XD Amazing work!
