My(False)Eldorado

My(False)Eldorado

A Poem by Lexi Nicole
"

You were my false Eldorado.

"

All the while I have searched
So desperate for the morrow
Begging for an end to sorrow
Longing for my Eldorado

All the while I have waited
For the time that I could borrow
The map leading to the end of sorrow
Longing for my Eldorado

All the while I have seen you
Sitting in a field of yarrow
And you had such a neat bravado
And I thought that you could lead me
Towards my coveted Eldorado

All the while I have known you
But I never did expect that you
Would be leading me so far away
From the end of all my sorrow
You’d never let me see my blessed Eldorado

All the while I have followed you
And never noticed your sinister smirk
As you led me down a path of fire
And opened a door and shoved me in
And slammed the door and locked it tight
And damned in eternal night
Lost in such agony and sorrow
I thought you’d bring me to a place
I’d never want to leave
When I followed in your footsteps
You were my false Eldorado

Lexi Nicole
I wrote this because the title was a title for one of the chapters in my most recent fanfiction and I really liked the title.
