There's A Man On The Corner

There's A Man On The Corner

A Poem by Lexi Nicole
"

There's a man on the corner of Orchard Lane and Pine and each day he buys a flower for the vase in his window.

"

There’s a man on the corner
Of Orchard Lane and Pine
In a little white house
In a little neat town

He isn’t very social
He comes out once a day
And walks 100 paces down the street
And back the way he came

Each day he buys a flower
Pretty as can be
And puts it in a vase on his window sill
For all the town to see

100 paces to the store
100 paces back
Every day I watch him
But he never looks back

The local children find him scary
Though why I always ponder
When all he does is buy those flowers
And leave them in the window for us to admire

In the vase in the window
A new one every day
Roses, lilies, lilacs, orchids
Such a lovely display

Christmas, Easter, July the Fourth
Snow storms, rain and blazing heat
But still he goes to his buy his flowers
He never misses a day

But one long summer day
I didn’t see him walk 100 paces to the store
And I didn’t see him walk his 100 paces back
And when I walked by house and looked for his flowers
They were sadly withered and black

There’s a man on the corner
Of Orchard Lane and Pine
There’s a man no one’s mourning
But black flowers in the window

I just kind of thought this one up. I know the rhyming isn't consistent. I wanted this to be more about the man's story than the actual structure of the poem. Comments and crit welcome ^^

"And puts it in vase on his window sill" Shouldn't it be "in a vase"? Either way, good job, I like this and the story is cute. Maybe you could expand on it. :)
