Chocolate Bunny

Chocolate Bunny

A Poem by Lexi Nicole
"

This season of joy brings children small toys and delicious treats such as he.

"

Sitting alone
With a placid expression
On a bed of plastic grass

This season of joy
Brings children small toys
And delicious treats such as he

In a basket he came
Wrapped with pastel ribbons
Next to jelly beans and a red yo-yo

The children’s faces lit up
Their eyes went wide with delight
And they laughed and they played into the night

He sat all day
And watched them play
He didn’t anticipate what would happen to him

They took him in their hands
With grins on their faces
And plucked off his conjoined ears

Oh my, he thought
I’ve got no ears
However will I be able to hear?

He watched as they nibbled
And giggled away
And he decided their joy
Was worth the price he had paid
