A Poem by houseswediein

we come to beg your audience, little body in the soil
to tell you that we would have loved you, had he deemed you worth the while.
and even though i know that you're not up there, safe and warm
i think you know the loss of you has never lost its harm.

oh how i wish my father had known your loving look;
he'd never drink himself to sleep because of what that b*****d took.
and maybe if my mother had seen the glimmer in your eyes,
she might not have tried so hard to end both of our lives.

i hope it's not too cold in that tiny box of yours, alone
i hope two decades have been kind to your brittle little bones.
i hope the wooden walls haven't soaked through from the rain
and i hope the flowers that we've lain have kept the rotting-worms at bay.

and even though her tears still go unnoticed in the rain
the sky, it shares our grief and weeps
because she loves you all the same.
