Free From ReligionA Poem by Courtney Hough
Will my parents hate me?
Because I am not of their faith? My eyes have been open, But to them I am a disgrace. Mormon is what their called, And I am finally free. No longer chained to sexist belief, I can finally breath. That religion ruined me, Made my husband want to leave for two years. But was sent home because of “immortality.” Feeding him nothing but fears. If they believe in family, Husband and wife should be the head. Not one over the other, Because they are wed. I’m not less then you, Nor you more then I. We both go to heaven or hell, Not separated when we die. So mother and father I’m sorry, I’m finally living and free. You’ve taught me well in most, But Mormon is not me. © 2016 Courtney HoughFeatured Review
