The most beautiful thing in the world

The most beautiful thing in the world

A Poem by Courtney Hough

The most beautiful thing in the world…it is not the hills in the majestic snowcap mountains beyond. Not the mighty ocean, with its vastly deeps and finny tribes. Not the moon, as she sails her silver course across the inky depth of heaven. Nor the stars, with their unfathomable mystery.  Not the sun, as he burst for in the morning horizon sending ...forth his glorious rays after the darkness and fills the world with brilliance. Nor the sun. As he settles quietly down into the basin of the lake, painting the sky, clouds and hills, in gorgeous purple, crimson and gold. No, none of these is the most beautiful thing in the world. What is it? Or can it be? It is the continence of man at that moment when faith gives birth to knowledge. When the clouds of uncertainty, and darkness of doubt, are dispelled by the light of truth. When intelligence is enthroned and the soul of man is illumed by the spirit of God. When the divine in man is touched by the divine in God, and he cries, “I see, I understand, I know.”

This by far is one of the deepest poems I read in this forum. This is especially more beautiful now. In a world where we made Gods of our gadgets. "Illumined by the spirit of God" in today's world, well, it is a miracle. Beautiful work. N.
