Strangers we Remember

Strangers we Remember

A Poem by Kevin

The strangers we remember on that tragic September day.

Wake us up most mornings in a sorrowful sort of way
Hearts un-mended, never healed
From a 9-11 when hearts were broken in two.
Can’t help our memory from shedding tears
For the people we never knew.
We mourned the victims
And pray for those who survived ; All too few.
And can’t imagine the pain
Of the families of loved ones who lost their lives
Yes, Alan Jackson .We do remember
Where we were when the world stopped turning
Every day is an anniversary of that rueful September day.
We remember the planes, the towers, the field, the pentagon
And where the devastation lay.
We all remember as we awake each day
In a peculiar kind of way
And weep in our hearts
For the strangers we remember
On that mournful September day.
