I'm Sorry

I'm Sorry

A Poem by A.M

She couldn’t find the words

Her breath caught in her throat

Her heart was racing

He was turning his back on her

His face looked so… disappointed

Her mouth opened but nothing came out

As if her voice had been stolen from her

As if she didn’t have a million things to say

She watched him walk away

She clutched her hands to her chest trying to muffle the pounding of her heart

She watched him get farther and farther away until he disappeared

“I’m sorry”

The words finally escaping her mouth for no one but herself to hear

They sounded foreign to her

She felt like a stranger to her own self

And suddenly feeling like a fool in the middle of the street

She turned and walked away flicking away the tears as if nothing happened

But in her chest, her heart ached like no other pain she ever imagined

This is beautiful.
The way you wrote it, I would say this has happened to you and you did an amazing job of describing it. The emotion in it was real and easy to feel. Good job.
