The GameA Poem by jenny
Its not just a game
Its not just for fame Its not to give blame Its not to relieve shame The last chance and your up there was your cue You play as a team but now its all up to you You get two strikes already got three balls The time is now and judgment calls Last time she lets it slip through her fingers Only one thing through your head Last chance all or nothing Hoping your choice is one you wont regret You watch and decide to give it your all You swing desperate to just catch that ball As soon as you feel the ball on the bat Everything in practice has come to just to that You drop the bat and run to first Well you got one base at worst You go so fast almost unseen Continue to run for the ball is in the green Rounding to home only one thing in your head Can I slide this time for its something I do dread All the practice I've done hoping it paid off Haven't done it before but maybe it will be enough I'm going to go the pace In order to win the race Ball vs. Runner Batter vs Fielder Only one thing fighting me now Which is my relentless mind Though my heart longs to slide From my mind should it divide Time for me to give it up Give it my all And down I go racing ahead of the ball The full speed I went not slowing down a bit Made it easier for me to do it from my mind I split And here we go waiting for that ump I slid I finally did it but was it enough? He makes the call safe it was I stand up with an unforgeable buzz Walking in surrounded by my girls They run up to hug me my head still it swirls We won the game and even if we lost They will have my back at any cost © 2010 jenny |
