Unwanted Feast

Unwanted Feast

A Poem by Dano

A piano strums softly bending to the lady in blue

The scent of burnt tea rises up from the corner

Chocolate, coffee, fresh bread and conversation fills the air

The lines form with the taste of sweets in mind

Clever monkeys all but lick the glass trying to get a taste

The piano falls silent amongst the wild giggles

Shame that was a favorite

Much like children, eyes darting back and forth

All the while licking their lips

Minutes slip by, as the first monkey sits victorious

One after the other they sit and begin to devour

Now is the time to depart
