![]() NIGERIA, MY HEART BLEEDSA Poem by honeyIn the heart of Africa, where shadows play, Lies a nation torn, in disarray. Nigeria, a land of promise and pain, Where poverty's heavy chains, the people's hopes restrain. Oppression's dark wings, cast a somber shade, In minds where dreams are made, but hopes are often razed. Hopelessness stalks, like a monster in the dark, As unemployment's bitter sting leaves many without a fight. Inflation's fiery breath, burns through the land, Leaving paucity’s harsh grip, on an already weary hand. The gap between the rich and poor, a chasm so wide and deep, No middle ground to stand, where the masses can safely creep. Corruption's cancerous roots, spread far and wide, Hunger's pangs, a constant ache, that cannot be denied. Partisan politics' poisonous sting, divides the land, As voters turn on each other, with blame and anger's hand. Ethnic slurs and attacks, a toxic, deadly game, Leave scars that never heal, and fuel the flames of shame. Is hope still here, or lost, in a lifetime or never? Like a vengeful graveyard, the question echoes through the land Yet, amidst the darkness is a glimmer of hope, People undeterred , who grip on justice like a strong rope, Their voices raised, in protest and in prayer, For a better tomorrow, where love and justice are the song. Perhaps, one day, Nigeria's promise will unfold, And from the misery, a new dawn will arise, to behold. Until then, we hold on to the thin thread of hope, And pray that our beloved nation will someday be freed. © 2025 honeyReviews
