Forbidden LoveA Poem by honey
Our world has been consumed with hypocrisy
That we bleed our own hearts with hurtful denials So much weight placed on respect based on age and societal differences Yet convincing ourselves that age is just figures and love isn't money Perhaps the society has fiddled with our rationality And placed so much confusion in us that we justify its own rationale With the only love that was ever reciprocated Such faithfulness, reduced to a tale of bittersweet and of hurtful desires They were ridiculed with some feigning assumption that she was his mother The woman was a decade older than the man And had amassed such wealth to last them a lifetime Yet the love was undiluted and heaven- sent Controversial and valid This is no fairy-tale that ends with happily ever after It was a roller-coaster of pain and regret With both parents leading the panel that issued such verdict That they were exiled for a crime of unsimulated love Never blame a spinster Never blame a bachelor Society robbed some of their soulmates And has eternally hurt them with its legislation With wounds that still bleed and never form scars © 2018 honeyFeatured Review
