WINTER'S SONG

WINTER'S SONG

A Poem by Lou R

It's summer in your world

While it's winter deep in mine

Your summer birds have all returned

With their hearts and wings aflame

And it's so well you play your part

That you could never see

The ice that's formed around my heart

At the mention of your name

Winter's song is all I sing

Lamenting time gone by

Forgetting hope that's born of spring

I see only cloudy skies

Winter's song is all I know

To tell of love that's flown

I can't see beyond tomorrow

And yesterday is dead and gone

And through the darkened night

My tears they fall like stars

But no one sees them in the light

No one there to take the blame

Winter's song is all I bring

Lamenting time gone by

Forgetting hope that's born of spring

I see only cloudy skies

Winter's song is all I know

To tell of love that died

Tomorrow seems so far to go

And yesterday is a song that lied.

Read very nicely. I loved the pictures and the metaphor and I have felt this way. The absence of a person has made me feel quite cold inside. To think they have love again and you don't anymore can make me think of them having 'summertime' while you're enduring the pain of missing them, the "winter's song'. I really enjoyed this.
