MY WORLD

MY WORLD

A Poem by Lou R

You ask too much of me

That I should change my world for you

And be what you want me to be -

What would I do if my dreams fell through?

You know I'd meet you halfway

If only you would do the same

But everything I do or say

Seems to end up causing pain

You're tearing my world apart like you would a page

Lines on the paper becoming the bars of a cage

The ink with which my life is written

   is running like my tears

As you crumple me up and throw me away -

   alone with all my fears.
