A LOVER'S DREAM

A LOVER'S DREAM

A Poem by Lou R

On the other side of this mountain

There's a road I've travelled alone

With nothing to keep my head up

But your song beneath the summer sun

So gentle in the warm breeze

That blew against my face

On the other side of this mountain

Grew a lover's dream

Sprung from a million sunsets

Flew the dove on feathered wings

Down to a driftwood forest

Where the nightingale still sings

Dreams you cherished forever

Where the silent waters flow

On the other side of this mountain

Grew a lover's dream

 High in a mountain cathedral

I watched the rising sun

Cover the water with copper

Reflecting in your eyes

While down on the ochre seashore

The seagulls swooped and fell

Shining in the water

Grew a lover's dream

Sprung from the sky and the ocean

Together in love we fell

The highway that we wandered together

Became our home

Dreams we cherished forever

Where the silent waters flow

On the other side of this mountain

Grew a lover's dream.
