Childhood's Doll

Childhood's Doll

A Poem by HoneeBunni

A doll sat next to an old teddy bear.

The other toys didn’t like to blink.

She looked around to see the night sky and the stars.

The little doll cocked her oversized head to the side.

And a sigh escaped her red, plastic lips.

She got up and danced her way to the open window.

Her black dress twirled around her wooden legs.

A cracking sound echoed through my nightmares.

Her legs were broken, her thoughts left behind.

I glued them, taped them, and even replaced them.

But she was never satisfied with my unfinished work.

I gave up and let her be, let her sit by the other toys.

As I knew it, she escaped, she left me all alone.

And I know what she took with her forever.

She stole my childhood.
