Summer BeautyA Chapter by Brittany
I sit here, beside a worn down hospital bed hoping for the sound of life. She lays beside me in another world, not coming back to be with me. I know she is somewhere beneath that skin, leading a life of adventures. But thats not reality, this girl isn't living the life she was born to live.
I met her 2 years ago, at a bakery on 5th street. After she had order her everything bagel with vegetable cream cheese and peppers, she stepped aside waiting for her lunch. I inspected her from across the room noticing how she crossed her legs and tapped her leg to the beat of her inner feeling. She bit her lip ever so slightly and gazed up at the ceiling, making it obvious she was imagining something. People pasted between us continuously between the minutes I sat there, but my eyes kept locked on her, imaging what was going on inside her body, her blood flowing from her fingers up to her brain. The images she saw inside her head. She wasn't like anyone else i'd ever seen. She was, beautiful. While the minutes passed, I conducted a plan to depart from the bakery at the right time, just so I would bump into her. This girl was mine, I had noticed her for a reason, our paths were meant to cross, at that shop, that day. Neither of us knew what lie ahead, but that didn't matter at that moment, it was just me and her. "Summer, sum..." said the baker. "..Oh that's me! Thank you!" This was my chance, to change the future I had ahead of me. I stood up as she took her bagel holding it between her fingers. She strut across the room, I could hear the sound of her heels plaster the ground as she crossed the bakery. I kept my head at an angle so I could see her every move, and just as I had imagined it, she stepped through the door as I jumped to meet her halfway, pressing our bodies together. She giggled apologizing for such an inconvienance. "My fault, I can be such a clumsy person sometimes, can I help you with that?" I said. She had dropped her purse on the floor giving me a chance to keep a conversation alive. "Thanks, I don't know how I didn't see you there, I was just lost somewhere else I guess." "No worries, I'm not the first person you spot in a crowd so I understand. I'm Elijah by the way." "Summer." "Yes, I heard from the women across the counter, sounds like you got a pretty tasty bagel there." "Ha ha ha, thanks. I walk by this place everyday without paying any attention. But today I couldn't stand the smell coming from inside so I had to explore." "It's a delicious bakery, you should come by more often. I'm here every morning, with a warm cup of coffee." "I will have to take you up on that offer Elijah, what about tomorrow?" "Sounds greats." "It's a date." She stepped back giving me a flirty look as she turned and walked down the street. A date. The way she said it made it sound so, so wonderful. Like it was the best thing anyone could get in the world. No, she was the best thing in the world. At least thats what I thought.
