Tales from the Grave

Tales from the Grave

A Poem by Holly

From the grave he returns

With a story to tell

Not of angels from heaven

Or of demons from hell

It seems his truth is different from this

No gates or flames

From the reapers sweet kiss

Instead he shares a bleaker tale

Of stories of nothing

A nightmarish gale

He leaves with us

These words of warning:

When the dead have died,

The living should be in mourning

For I tell you the truth

This bitter fact,

When you close your eyes

And it all fades to black

That’s simply the end

There’s no turning back
