Where are you nowA Poem by lizardbrain
To think that one or some
members of my future family are already out there somewhere, walking around out in the world. Someone who will become so precious to me, so loved. Which of their features will I adore, as I adored that space between C's ear and her neck? I can still picture that tender space, with those delicate little baby hairs that pulled heart strings I didn't know existed. To look upon that space was to fill my soul to the brim, to brush it with my fingertips to restart my heart, and to touch it to my lips almost more than I could bear. Will it be the dimple of a pool resting atop the upper lip? The unexpected placement of a freckle, the softness of the flesh below the armpit? My future lover's knee ditches, gently wrinkled and dampened with sweat? The fatty upper thigh, where the two meet? What sights, smells, feels of my future love will reach those deepest heartstrings- The most unexpected features pulling me to irresistibly hold, cradle caress, rock, and whisper in the tiny hours that are ours. ear lobe or whorl crook of arm jutting hip bone sloping down to billowing flesh each cell precious where are you now i love you already.
