Kokoroko

A Poem by lizardbrain

Kokoroko
Secret joy
liking something simply because it--
    made me feel something
a solid block on the foundation of--
    my elusive identity
Scrambling up on that block to shout to the world,
"I ENJOY THINGS!"
Not out of nostalgia or because--
someone I admire liked it first
Simply because
I heard it
And my heart
Reacted to it
My head
and hips
Moved to it
My lips smiled
effortlessly
Joy
can happen to me, too.
I am not just a sum
of everything I have come into contact with
and what others see in me
There is substance to me yet
    to be discovered
And I am joyful.

I enjoyed this & can relate, at least in my own way. The structuring's well done, especially the fragmented mid-section, it reads well.
