A Poem by David

I'm just the king

No more than a man

What's there to sing

When no one can stand me

Lay down the law

Forget about the land

I was bloody-red, raw

When they took their stand

I just try to help my people

But I don't know what they want

They follow the tides of their steeple

This idea that's stronger than kings

God's just a man, don't you know?

He's a thought inside of your head

But when he has an idea, a new thing

Everyone go kill the king

I'm just a king

In no one's land but my own

My God can say all that he wants

But I sit on this throne

Forget about about the land......I think you meant to use only one 'about'

I was bloody red, raw.............i think you need a comma between bloody and red

cheers,lea

What other path is there than to become a god, turn lead to gold?

This is very bold, quite obviously. I would have chickened out and hid that behind a metaphor. It definitely lends itself to thought, how well you articulate the idea behind the poem.
