Only a Boy

Only a Boy

A Poem by David

Oh, Mary, just calm down

Listen to the wind blow now

You dropped your rock

and it sunk right to the bottom

You opened your heart

and where has it taken you now?

Your life, your soul, your all

 we know

You never wanted this to happen

Incense holds your love together

Earthquakes shake the bad men

The splitting headaches

Three days strong

But your heart will mend,

Tomorrow?

Wait..

Not today.

Nor tomorrow.

The next day?

Not yet.

Three days strong

and the pot is filled with sorrow

Out of the earth

A medium born

Come with me, just follow

Oh, Mary, just calm down

Listen to him shouting

He picked up your rock

and threw it straight at the sky

He healed your heart

why do you look so doubting

(Because that's not the way I pictured him

He's only a boy to me.)
