Not Me

Not Me

A Poem by David

Drop your tears /
And look down to
the ground and
pick up all your
fears / You made
a mess / Spin
around in the
streets 'til you
have to sit down
and rest / Make
time to see all
of the things /
You wanted to
see / Before you
met me / Because
it's over / Nothing
works, not even
your four-leafed
clover / Yeah,
we're through /
There is no more
me and you / So,
you've never
cried before / I
find that so
hard to believe /
Your life is
becoming such a
bore / without
me / without what
we used to be
-                                -
So what? You shouldn't
do a goddamned thing
to a very good thing
When you just
could've sat there
and waited for me
to come around. I
was right there on
the ground, on one
knee I was sounding
off with emotions
no one has ever
seen. But you had
to ruin that too.
It's you, because
it's definitely not
me / Not ME!
-                                -
Sing along / Sing
along with the
song that's
destroying both
our hearts / I
tried / To the end
of the world, but
you couldn't just
ride / Make time
to do all you
wanted to do / You
wanted to do /
Before you met
me / Because I'm
through / Through
with your musings
and especially
through with
you / You did me
wrong / Now I sit
here in hatred
writing it down in
this song / So, I've
never cried before /
That's so hard
to believe / My
life is so much
more / When you're
without me
-                                -
So what? You shouldn't
do a goddamned thing
to a very good thing
When you just
could've sat there
and waited for me
to come around. I
was right there on
the ground, on one
knee I was sounding
off with emotions
no one has ever
seen. But you had
to ruin that too.
It's you, because
it's definitely not
me / Not ME!
