Goodbye

Written to my ex.

You broke me down,

wrecked my emotions,

tore my heart out

my tears became

Oceans, dragged me down

under the waves

I was depressed before,

now my emotions are

Slaves, to my thoughts

and despite all this

I have forgiven you

so that I will find

Bliss, in my life

so I can be content,

because my grudge

really showed the 

Extent, of the hurt

though now I've let go

through forgiveness

my pain in the wind will

blow.

Author's Note

I wrote this about 3 minutes ago.
So before I wrote this I was thinking about who I am and what I stand for.
I decided that I talk a lot of talk about being a good person and showing love, but yet I hate on my ex even though she cheated on me.
I am completely hypocritical if I continue to slander her.
So, I decided to send her a message saying that I have forgiven her, because I have never told her that. I sat and cried for a few minutes, because a lot of emotions came out when I finally clicked send.
I wrote this poem, because I want people to know how I now feel about the situation. I no longer hate her, because I do not hate anyone.

Harrisen, you really have a great grasp of the reasons for writing. This poem is well written, and has pulled something from you that needed to get out. You also show tremendous wisdom in your forgiveness: "I have forgiven you so that I will find Bliss, in my life..." So true, forgiveness is not so much for the person being forgiven as it is so the other can let go. Well done!

Thank you, and yeah that's something that I have realized, as of late. I honestly don't care whether or not she responds to me, because it is enough for me to know that I have truly forgiven her.

If she cheated on you that justifies your hate in my eyes. I know that would be my opinion but i've but in the same situation more often than I would choose to and I've played it both ways forgiving and forgetting and hating and trust me neither of the roads you take are easy. Forgiving and hating are related in some way I feel because when you forgive you stop hating and when you hate you never stop forgiving yourself but it's not an easy choice. I like how this poem is a release, closure almost as I can feel your mind find some peace and finally let go. I appreciate this kind of honesty and personal emotion in a write. Very cool man, kudos "hugs" things will look up for you.

Well, here's the problem. I found out that she cheated on me this time last year, and have hated her ever since, but honestly I feel so happy in life when I choose love instead of hate. She cheated on me multiple times, and I can't change that. There is no way that if I continue to hate her every single day of my life everything will magically change. I had to accept that it's the past and move on, which I never really have, until a few minutes ago.
I am a peaceful person and hate drags me down, because of my depression. I do not wish for anyone to feel the way that I do, so I will now continue this quest to forgive and share my love to everyone.

If just been teaching my students that this might be due to an evolved drive for men to use 'negative inducements' to stop women from cuckolding them. Women, due to anisogamy, can cheat on a man to secure multiple sources of resources (including genetic resources for the baby -- the sexy sons hypothesis) and men have evolved the strategy of using violence to deter this behaviour.

Hate doesn't necessarily mean physical violence or any sort of mental/emotional harassment techniques. In this case it's just his displeasure for the person who's broken his heart on several occasions. But you do make a valid point
