Songs

I love music, and I've been told I can sing, but writing songs is a difficult thing.

How do I write a song?

They all turn into poems.

Yes, a song can be

a poem with a tune,

but there must be

something to it,

some sure fire way..

I just can't seem 

to grasp it.

I try and I try,

but the prose just goes on.

A rhyme

here and there,

but not everywhere.

Oh what can I say...

I'm supposed to be

writing a song,

but here's a poem,

while I try and figure it out.

I think we've all been there, feeling the pain of those two lines. At the same time, it is worse when your poems all turn into songs: especially if they are sung by the latest assembly-line pop princess with a Heart of Darkness.

Yeah, I don't listen to pop music anymore. I like to listen to music I can relate to, not music I wish I could relate to.

This always happens to me! I have tried to just convert my poems into songs...but it does not always work out.. lol. Fun piece to read!

Yeah, it's so difficult.. My dad writes music and he said that if you want to write songs, it's just like poetry and anything else, just keep trying!
