Death

Death

A Poem by Harrisen Viator

He's not an enemy,
just a passer-by.
Yet, you fear him.
You fear the reliever
of the old,
the sick,
the broken and wounded.
More or less,
he is a savior
from this struggle
called life.
He is the only
real truth
in this
beautiful lie.
Yet, we fear
his truth,
the unspoken word.
The only real certainty
in life.

Wow. This reminds me of a poem of my own (http://www.writerscafe.org/writing/TLK/1016944/) in terms of it being a message that the common idea of death is questionable. I think this can be taken as evidence that I am with you on this one.

I actually think that death is the most benevolent sign of the existence of a God: the rich cannot buy their way out of it, the violent cannot fight it, the famous cannot bewitch it. In a world riven by inequality, it is what humbles us all.

And, no matter how desperate your life is, your desperation is only a pin-prick in the smooth velvet hide of the sleeping universe.

Harissen, this says it perfectly. Death is not to be feared; it awaits us all, and can be a friend to those who suffer. Excellent write.
