This is the first poem I actually put effort into writing, I was sitting in the back of my car on a road trip when it came to me.
Sadness
is nothing more than Winter’s gown,
Happiness, Spring’s blossomed crown.
Glee is nothing but a Summer high
Swallowed up by Fall’s cold sigh..
Maybe my life could mean more than this?
Yet misery holds me in its frigid fist.
Where must I go what must I do?
To alleviate this state of blue..
Why must Life always bring me down?
Why must I wear this burdened crown?
I cannot explain all I feel,
But believe me now this pain is real.
But I can’t let the dejection rule,
So I always keep my glass half full.
For I know someday, that I will win
And the happiness will come again.
It is getting way too late, so my reviews will must likely suck. But I love this poem. It's so wonderfully constructed and the meaning is more than my half-awake mind can comprehend. The simplicity of my mind cannot admire the true beauty of what you just said with this.
Yours truly, Delaney

I'm glad that you enjoyed this one. I'm not sure if there is more meaning than if life gets you down, the only way to beat it is to choose happiness, because if you don't do anything to stop the sadness then you won't magically become happy.
Thank you for your thoughts,

Those opening lines are just beautiful! I feel like these lines could have taken so many directions. A great "meaning of life" poem, with a hopeful end. Great!
The true question is which do you prefer, the crown, or the gown? And perhaps if winter were to be the crown, the greater of evils what would happen then. On the artistic sides of things I think you did excellent with this poem. I can't really see anything being improved since you got your point across pretty well. Wonderful, I love it ^w^
