Thanksgiving Table

A poem of someone leaving before the holidays.

you were supposed to be here with me at the thanksgiving table

we planned it out months ago, you said that you were able

we’d do christmas with your family, i already got your present

a shiny watch engraved “our love is timeless”

two days ago, a phrase i truly meant

but now i sit at this thanksgiving table a bit hopeless
