All that she is

All that she is

A Poem by h.m

They watched on in awe of the beauty and strength that is her vessel
But though she loved and gave with all there were inside her
She carried burdens of decades beneath her skin
Tattoos inked layers deep, entrenched, eternal,
Secrets nestled within her veins
Woven deep into her bones

Her eyes made of glass would rain on days like this
When her stories threatened to crush her ribs,
Break through her sturdy form and expose her for all that she is,
Broken.

I am always amazed at how strong a person can be and even beneath the weight of a lifetime of burdens they are capable of portraying beauty and strength. This is very good for a first poem; I love your vivid imagery describing where we hide our secrets. Well-written!
