Wishing for a Love

Wishing for a Love

A Poem by Herman Martin
"

as the old adage says...be careful of what you wish for

"
She felt the need for a man
So she prayed for a man to come
Her prayers were answered
When she met the love of her life
She wished for words of his love
He yelled at her with words of hate
She wished for romance
He made her his slave
She wished for a gentle touch
He hit her and gave her pain
She wished for his apologies
He said he did nothing wrong
She wished for a social life
He keeps her away from her friends
She wonders what she did to upset him
He tells her what every day
She will not leave him
She says the wounds will heal
She says it is all her fault
She could never leave him
After all he does love her
That was the last thing she said
