As the sun shone brightly
overhead, I felt the water pour out of me and soak into the grass. My scarf lay
on her naked body, her twiggy hands intertwined with mine and my carrot was
deep inside her. It was a puzzling relationship of parts and I didn’t know
where I ended and she began.
It took us weeks trudging through
the three feet of snow to finally embrace. Moving only inches per day, the
journey was painfully long, but well worth the wait. She looked beautiful in
her pink hat surrounded by white and I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my
days with her.
As the weather got warmer, her
body began to lose weight. I wished there was something I could do for her, but
I began to feel the sting of the heat myself. Eventually her smile began to
fade as well and it broke my heart. I was watching the love of my life fade
away and I was helpless to stop it. I held onto her tightly and hoped that I
would melt first so I wouldn’t have to watch her go.
