A Poem by H.L. Cerveise

Adaptation

You say,
“I am on fire.
Watch out I will burn you!”

I say,
“I love it hot!”

You whisper,
“I am gonna melt into tears.”

I whisper,
“I will collect you in my cupped hands,
bring you to my parched lips,
and drink you deep into me.”

You giggle,
“I am gonna burn tishhh tashhh,
you got the burning tongue,
you got the burning tongue,
now what?”

I chuckle,
“I am a dragon,
I adapt to the burning,
from within and without.”
