The Chosen OnesA Poem by H.L. CerveiseThe Chosen Ones
Ah you say they are nothing but a vapor to you. In this world of condensation, you do not want me. You are comfortable there without my presence.
The fog in my mind is clearing but not gone. I will not leave this world of mist. It is only smoke and mirrors I know.
It has been a part of me far longer than you. I willing and openly shared it with you. You revealed in this world of steam.
In the beginning, I left you alone too much. This is something I am paying for now. In this world of haze, it is a debt I cannot fulfill.
The reek of this world has surrounded you. A heavy wall of smog separates us here now. You cannot see me through it, but I was there.
Time and again, the chosen ones called out to you. Surrounded by fumes you say they mean nothing to you. Even so, you push me away as your heart gets darker.
I understand now you picked the chosen ones. So I have built a wall of condensation between us. I have painted it black, so I cannot see you.
In this insubstantial world, all have a soul, A heart behind each one of us here. You cannot see that here I realize.
As you peer into this mist in the shape of humans, Remember they cannot hold you like I can. Look my beloved and see my black wall has a door.
