Have You Ever?

Have You Ever?

A Poem by H.L. Cerveise

Have You Ever?

Have you ever really looked at the full moon over the lake?

It shimmers across the waters like a million stars in the sky.

Have you ever felt the warmth of the autumn waters upon your skin?

It caresses you like a lover that will never let you go.

Have you ever sat upon a deck hanging over the waters edge?

It's waves lapping endlessly below you as the hard wood supports you.

Have you ever listened to the sounds upon the waters as they leap and swim?

It's never ending struggle of life, death and everything in between striving.

I sit here and I can barely stand it as I think upon it all, is it real?

Will your hands reach out and tell me it is so and I can touch you.

I wonder are you touchable and are you close enough to embrace me?

Will I always be beyond your grasp and forever in the darkness without you.
