Water Clock

Water Clock

A Poem by H.L. Cerveise

Water Clock

Drip-drip sings in my ancient ears.

So close to the bowl I see the rings.

It dings out the hours every sixty.

Tick-tock sings in my present ears.

So close to the tower when it chimes.

It rings out the hours every sixty.

Crest-trough sings in my future ears.

So close to the wave I see the vibrations.

It sings out the hours every sixty.

and each hour that comes and has been is still sixty minutes...and what we do with those sixty minutes is what is important...time waits for no one...it just keeps passing by.

Thank you for reading and reviewing my writing. So true what we do between the hours is what counts.
What a lovely masterpiece this is! so nicely you have talked of three different tenses in each of your stanzas. This is what a poem about time must have. The repetitions are exquisite. The last line of every stanza is simply superb. Great work. Keep writing.
